Pros

The human quality of the employees is incredible, you can have great friends.

Cons

I worked at Open for more than 5 years, HR is a department dedicated to everything but taking care of the company employees. The organizational culture is focused on making you believe that you are not worth anything as a professional and that the low salary they pay for your work, is something to be thankful for since no one else will pay for it. To move up in the company, you must have excellent relationships, that is to say, be friends with the manager of the XXX department. People who do not try hard earn more, and those who try hard earn less, the increases are every year and it depends on if one or many bosses likes you, everything based on personal viewpoints, your performance rating is not relevant to this process, even if it is good. The turnover rate is high, the staff gets bored with the "organizational culture" and salaries, and so they leave. Some people spent 10 years in the same position struggling for a salary or for a reward, that will not come. They do not promote your professional progress, they do not promote the learning of new technologies, methodologies, among others. Also, you must make up time for study or medical appointments, your performance is judged by how long you sit in your chair, you are a "good employee" if you work overtime, that is not paid, and you are bad if you ask for the paid of those. It is not a company that gives you freedom of opinion, if you think differently from your leaders you will be labeled a "problem employee". They promote an ideal leadership that stays on the paper and in the courses that the bosses take, but nothing else, because there's not leadership. when you get a new position, you must arrive with everything learned, there is no opportunity for learning curves, making mistakes is not part of your process, it is frowned upon. Irrelevant classifications and dismissals without justification are normal within the company's processes. I grew a lot in my soft skills and thanks to everything mentioned, I learned what I would not accept again.

Pros

- Annual bonus based on company's revenue. - Wellness program (the person in charge do an awesome job).

Cons

- The salaries are very low in comparison with other companies in the same city, and very unequitative between persons with the same role. - In some areas, work will be turn into a real nightmare. - They fired you without any reason and without any advice and zero explanations. - Micromanagement is very common in all the organization. - Only one area allow you to work from home (for some specific reasons). - They work with a very old Methodology (Waterfall) and old technologies (PL/SQL as main programming language at back-end, .Net and Ext.js/Sencha for Front-end). - At many areas, you can't propose anything new, because changes in technology stack or methodology are satanized by the management. - In 3 years, you career could be stuck at Standard/Associate Engineer (equivalent to Senior Engineer). - They don't have spaces to learn about new technologies, practices or anything.
