Pros
The founders really care about the product they put out. I believe they really want what's best for the company but have the wrong people in place for success.
Cons
During my time at Ooni, I was hired following a massive layoff. I was initially thrilled to join the company, drawn in by the perks and the culture they promote. However, from the start, it was evident that my position was not only unnecessary but also a waste of company resources. The image they project as a healthy, people-first workplace is far from reality. Sales numbers are alarmingly low, yet no meaningful action is being taken to address the issue. Instead of executing effective strategies, the company cycles through layoffs followed by unnecessary hires.
I witnessed countless instances of unkind and unprofessional behavior from a company that claims to prioritize kindness and its people. Leadership provided no direction—I never had a single meeting with them—yet we were subjected to endless meetings filled with 30-minute pep talks that had no connection to actual sales performance.
Adding to the dysfunction, there is no dedicated HR team in the U.S., making even the most basic employment processes unnecessarily difficult. My departure has been a frustrating ordeal, requiring multiple outreaches over several weeks just to get the information I need. The lack of communication and support only reinforces how disconnected leadership is from the realities of their workforce.
