Pros

Worked at OnRamp for a year as a non-Taiwanese. - work is quite easy (to the point that it can be monotonous). Pop on a podcast, fill out some excel tables or write some marketing copy. Despite the talk of "hustle" in the office, day to day is quite chill. - Work hours and environment are incomparably better than the vast majority of Taiwanese managed businesses. OnRamp gives out a number of extra holidays, such as not requiring employees to work on Saturdays when CNY or other national holidays would otherwise require it - Management is friendly, approachable and generally cares about employees. This is in direct contrast to most Taiwanese firms where personal insults and shouting at employees are the norm. - office can be great fun, especially as an expat. Lots of drinking and opportunities to go out to eat, many of which are paid for by the company. Doubly true if you become friendly with management - much better than teaching children. It's an actual white collar job that teaches you marketing skills, especially if you display competence and willingness to learn

Cons

- low pay across the board, though if you're in Taiwan to make lots of money, you're there for the wrong reasons. It was enough money for me to enjoy myself in Taipei, but I had nothing left over at the end of each month (and had one scary week when I ran out of cash completely) - some of the portfolio companies are really, really scammy. They have little growth potential and are just a bummer to work on. - on the other hand, the company seemed to be shifting towards becoming an agency (acting as a marketing consultancy for legitimate businesses) and those products were pretty cool
