On Center Software, now ConstructConnect, is a rising tech giant. For more than 30 years On Center was the industry leader for takeoff and estimating software. They've done it again. This time through integration into a larger network of contractors, On Center will deliver their expectional products to contractors globally. This office is focused on doing what is going to have the largest impact in the industry and making the hard decisions to get there. You will not find an office filled with more salt of the earth people that at On Center. From top management to front line, there is limited hierarchy and it's all hands on deck to get the job done. The breakroom is top notch. The company benefits are to die for. Best dental on the market. True team environment across all aspects of the business. Virtually zero silos in Houston.

SaaS vision for the Houston location could be clearer.

The experience was fairly relaxed and granted students a lot of freedom in what they wanted to explore and how they wanted to tackle problems. Employees were willing to talk about career and domain knowledge and were generally very kind and helpful. Resources were provided for entry-level software development, and the internship opened the door for connections and career management skills.

The learning and work was a little too hands-off for my liking, as the manager got a bit hung up on other obligations to run the interns through assignments, leading to some wasted time. The time frame alloted through the EfTA program was very short, and not much time could be spent in the job environment at all. While certainly helpful, the internship was not reminiscent of a real job environment.
