Pros
- Provides free drinks (soda, water (tap water is not drinkable), coffee, tea) - A few company events throughout the year but the number is declining with each year - Motivation is a big factor in changing position, not only experience and technical skills - Superb nightshift compensation, at the point that promotions can have you lose money at the end of the year if you don't keep a nightshift - Yearly performance bonus (which have been on the decline) - There is always something new happening and being developed
Cons
- Most of the Pros are also Cons - Skills and experience is less valued when applying for promotions - Events and performance bonus are on the decline - Newly developed services and products are rushed out so fast that techs need to improve and learn on the spot - No formal training - Lots of the managers are overworked with tasks that are not related to managing so the underlings are left unmanaged which can make performance review seem like russian roulette - Work condition are quite horrible and health hazard (dust, rain, wildlife, cold, snow and yes, all inside the old 1942 bulding that has not be renovated whatsoever). There is water that has been leaking inside the walls for years. - Salary is not quite up to par with the growing workload which only gets more complicated as each new innovation seems more unstable than the last - Lots of potential problems are spotted early by those who actually works with the new products but they are never listened to until its too late and then find a stopgap solution (which often ends up being permanent) - All the big decisions are taken in France which means that they are often not adapted to the situation in Canada
