Pros

Cons
As former management at NSH, I can attest to the fact that they do not train their managers to treat employees as anything greater than cogs in their performance machines. Each department keeps diligent track of certain metrics (selected by management) from which they're judged each month. The problem here is that many of these metrics are superfluous to departmental goals or even standard of care. We're pushed hard to collect meaningless data points to appease a wall of VPs that have all been at the hospital for decades. The VPs are out-of-touch, have unrealistic expectations of employees (cutting breaks, mandatory weekends, etc), and are too busy fluffing one anothers egos to realize the morale of the place is crumbling beneath them. The only thing that keeps this place going is the naivety of the new hires due to the CONSTANT TURNOVER. I put in my two weeks and my Director begged me to stay, offered a raise, AND offered a promotion, and I just couldn't do it. This place is toxic.
