Pros
The company had a major reshuffle at the tail-end of 2024, which has seen some new blood coming into the leadership teams both locally and globally. This has more 'democratic' and inclusive thinking into the company, which has made a huge difference to the culture and workplace vibe. Yes, there's still some frustrating thinking, but it's a whole lot better than it was! Specifically, in the UK, it feels like we've really turned a corner. The general vibe is a lot more positive and inclusive and we seem to be winning some decent and genuinely interesting delivery projects. It feels like the UK specifically, has a much better grasp on what our customers need and what is required to win business direct and via IBM.
Cons
For all the positives that IBM brings, we are still an acquisition that is expected to provide profit. This means there's an overwhelming level of scrutiny on cost, which stifles some of the creativity, flexibility and excitement that we could bring to the broader IBM group. Perhaps with the exception of a couple, I don't see any fresh thinking coming from global leadership - their sole mission appears to be satisfying the parent company's fiscal demands, at the cost of innovation and reputation.
