Management wants a lot of things done in a short period of time with minimal resources. Moving up is becomes harder and harder once you get to a certain point in your role. Raises used to be above average, and now they are standard 3%, if you get one. Stock bonuses are deminishing (for those not in upper management), and work/life balance is not valued. You have to set your own boundaries or you will work youself do death.
