Autonomy, you only work when there's actual work, so time flies by usually. Be prepared to work long days, and then also have ample random days off to make up for it. The doctors typically enjoy your help and expertise, as you are usually the only tech within hundreds of miles.
Cons
You must remain available even if you have a day off. It's hard to complain about not being able to leave town when you are being paid to have the day off.
