Pros
Aside from others mentioning the work week. I say the fact that your boss is significantly far away and 99% of your correspondence will be over the phone or emails. This requires you to be self sufficient and independent. No micromanagement. They will pay for you to move to a location if they are the cause of the move. Traveler techs get priority picks for open routes.
Cons
The company has a high turnover rate, especially at home office. Moving the equipment can be taxing, especially in bad weather. It’s nearly impossible to plan ahead for anything since work schedules are often times not set until the day before. Sure you can work 4 hours one day, but you don’t know what 4 hours, also it’s possible you have a 14-16 hour day while rare (dependent on the route/docs) it can and has happened. It’s hard to negotiate pay since there are so many factors involved, and they only do pay adjustments in January or during significant job description changes, such as shifting from a traveler to a route tech.
