Pros
- You have the opportunity to do higher level things then at a larger network - Still a start up so there is plenty to do - Unbiased reporting and coverage. Company culture really stresses nonpartisan, informing not influencing culture. - Lots of experienced journalists there. During my time I met several people who had multiple Emmys.
Cons
- Scripps is still in the early stages of its investment in Newsy. The pandemic didn't help the launch of the network or the economic conditions for Newsy to function well. - A chunk of the workforce was from the old Newsy, another from local stations mostly owned by Scripps in smaller markets, and a smaller portion of people from other national networks, mostly CNN. There are a lot of competing visions/different workflows. By and large Newsy hasn't standardized things. - Newsy is still trying to figure out major parts of its culture and workflow. Since launch this has been lacking.
