Pros
Get paid for breaks. Death in service. Easy to get hired.
Cons
Poorly written contract to only benefit the firm. Very strict. Very low wage. Never any trucks in time for shift starting. (Was becoming normal to be waiting 5/6hours for your keys, to then start an impossible day). Long hours. Constantly adding on ridiculous collection points when you think you're about to finish your shift. Theres no reward systems or bonus. Theres easter and xmas holiday bans so you cant book holidays off in the school holidays. Also if you want time off in the summer holidays this will be rejected (because of staff shortage) but theyre always short staffed because nobody lasts very long. The trucks are in a right state. Dirty with pot holes INSIDE the DAF trucks. Some with no floor lining at all! Management thought that instead of putting notes on window wipers they would glue the note to my windscreen. Nobody took accountability for this and I had to get the police involved for damage to my windscreen. All in all, ive never worked in such an unorganised chaos in my 11 years of being a hgv driver. I was bullied and harassed in this workplace and im not alone on this. I am so pleased ive left.
