Working in this office is a profoundly challenging experience. The CEO’s lack of organization and leadership creates confusion, while the Chief of Staff’s unchecked authority fosters a toxic, often demoralizing environment. It is full of chaos, micromanaging and complete disorganization with a CoS that chooses to not take accountability for anything. Instead, just pushing that down to those below her. She would rather relish in her unchecked authority, consuming company gossip like its high school and obsess about “how things look” which just emphasizes the inauthentic, neurotic politicking that goes on each day. Boundaries are nonexistent-24/7 emails, invasive questions about vacation and personal appointments, and a blatant disregard for work-life balance are the norm, all for a salary that fails to reflect the demands of the role. Efforts to transition to other departments are routinely blocked, leaving employees feeling stuck. What was once a storied institution now struggles under the weight of internal politics and a culture of unchecked behavior. While leaving initially felt bittersweet, it became clear how fortunate I was to move on.
