It's a good place to do good journalism work, but not family-friendly - Staff Editor New York Times Employee Review

Pros

The NYT may be the best place to work if you want to focus on doing the best journalism out there. You will have the resources you need and will be working with many of the best people.

Cons

Their benefits for people with families are lame. For example, slim maternity leave, not a day of paid paternity leave, and no help with daycare. You are likely to only get a raise if you have an offer from elsewhere.

Pros

Challenging and rewarding work. You'll work in an environment that publishes the news everyday, if you are excited about helping people learn more about the world, you'll love it here. Good benefits, hybrid work, and really smart coworkers.

Cons

Does not pay like big tech but as an IC you'll be part of union with job protections
