Pros

- Milton Keynes office did allow its employees to WFH throughout the pandemic.

Cons

- NO CAREER DEVELOPMENT. The department of Asset Information Services (AIS) continues to prolong training programmes. I know employees who have been here for 4-5 years and have not attended any through no fault of their own. Even with COVID-19, there is zero encouragement for employees to participate and explore other opportunities. This means employees are left without any career direction. - NOT ALLOWED TO ACCEPT SECONDMENT/ TEMP roles within the company. The reasoning is "if we cannot see how this will benefit AIS", we cannot accept it. Employees are left hopeless after applying for such positions. -Micromanaging. Now Line Managers tell their individual teams to fill out forms on what days employees WILL work from office. It is embarrassing and feels like a high school registration attendance. - Managers will message their employees throughout the day to monitor exactly (To the detail) what their employees are doing whilst working from home. It feels like surveillance and its horrible. -The department is hiring the wrong candidates out of pure desperation. This is a technical position which used to require a minimum degree (any subject). Now, they hire people (I say this with upmost respect) with no educational/ academic background. The standards have clearly dropped. - Favouritism. I have witnessed certain Line Managers get accepted into their positions not because of technical skill/ ability but because they have a better friendship with specific people within the hierarchy. There are groups of employees who grew up in the same neighbourhood (West Bletchley) consisting of friends/ family relatives working within AIS and the company more broadly. It begs the question as to how these employees all ended up here fairly?
