Pros

- Some excellent people across the different business units who clearly know their stuff - Real career progression plan in place for technical business side - Good locations - Multicultural business

Cons

- Lack of recognition or reward for overperforming! The Talent Acquisition Team went above and beyond in 2020, putting the largest number of perm placements in a single year into the business. That is despite a manager who at every turn lied and provided false information to both the team and senior stakeholders. And any member of the team would be reprimanded if we questioned or corrected TA management. With this any discussion on promotions and progression in the team was constantly pushed back when asked to discuss, and goalposts were moved with regards to targets. The primary one the TA team got from TA management was never to challenge a manager who was constantly getting things wrong. Myself and the TA team loved in a constant state of poor micromanagement with agency style KPI's to make up for a clear lack of knowledge in managing a high performing team (Or any team for that matter). The lack of organisation, communication and erratic behaviour made working a nightmare. This lead the TA team to file a formal complain with HR about how the team was being mismanaged and it was firmly swept under the rug. This combined with the constant changing of expectations and requirements served only to prove just how unimportant the team and it's happiness was considered within the business and the wider group.

Pros

- Positive Work Environment: The team fostered a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, contributing to a comfortable workplace culture. - Flexible Work Model: The hybrid work arrangement offered a good balance between remote and in-office collaboration, supporting work-life balance.

Cons

- Lack of Mentorship & Guidance: Minimal support or attention from supervisors, resulting in limited learning opportunities. - Mismatch of Role Expectations: Interned as a Data Engineer, but tasks were primarily focused on manual testing, which did not align with the advertised role. - Limited Technical Growth: Few opportunities to engage with data engineering tools, pipelines, or technologies. - Low Compensation: Salary was not commensurate with the workload or market standards for technical internships.
