You receive some money every month.

Micromanagement, high pressure, impossible deadlines, a highly toxic culture, and zero trust from the management. No reward or motivation whatsoever to make you go the extra mile, or even feel appreciated. In fact, the opposite is in place: intimidation and fear will be used against you. If you are in need of a worker visa, think twice before joining. Unemployment is a lesser source of unhappiness than working for this company. Spending time with this company will lead to a steep deterioration of your mental and physical health, and you are very likely to soon develop depression symptoms, eating disorder, anxiety and/or panic attacks. If you value your self-esteem and overall health, look elsewhere. You deserve better in your life than this modern-day slavery environment. Top picks: 1. On a Tuesday night, the whole team had to stay up until 5am (yes, until the early morning of the next day, Wednesday) to carry out work on the system. Nearsightedness and bad management at its greatest. 2. After a communication mixup —which is common, as you will routinely be trying to have complex discussions with people that (a) don’t have an adequate knowledge of the English language, (b) are not really interested in what you have to say, and (c) will see you as competition and will try to intimidate you— I was called into a Teams meeting. After responding the call, I was immediately asked in an aggressive tone about what I was doing at that very moment, by an incredibly self-righteous, lower-paid team member. Go figure. 3. A day after receiving an email from management regarding the fact that we were expected to be constantly in front of the computer until the end of the workday (zero trust, remember?), I received a seemingly innocent message on Teams, late in the afternoon, asking me how I was doing. This was just a poorly disguised check to verify that I was actually in front of the computer, as it had no follow-up question or comment. This seemed to me like an ill-thought, slimy move. 4. Right after I handed in my resignation, management was not interested in hearing from me. They just told me to leave by the end of the day. No interest in hearing why. At least they were consistent in not showing any interest whatsoever towards the employees during my whole time with this company. 5. During business hours, we were expected to be online on Teams, and update the status to ‘lunch break’ during lunch break. Anytime, the phone could ring, and you would be expected to pick it up and jump into a call. This intensified the sense of zero trust, and the fact that Big Brother was always watching you, hence the ‘Orwellian’ in the title of this review. This is not a way to treat employees nowadays. Since you got so far reading this review, and assuming you have a basic understanding of how the world works: if you are looking for a new role, keep looking. If you are in this company, I feel sorry for you; start looking elsewhere today.

Pros

It is a convenient walk to local shops. You get fruit once a week Company pension It has potential but the negatives outweigh the positives

If you like to be micromanaged within an inch of your life and never truly get to make a decision for yourself then go for it. Toxic atmosphere in the office. You never know A) what mood the management team are in B) this can change in a blink of an eye C) Your work colleagues and management will be your best "friends" a term used all the time and means nothing but they will stab you in the back in a heartbeat to detract from their own incompetency. Watch your back and keep your head down. You will always feel anxious that you are not doing a good job or if you get invited into the glass office on a Friday afternoon you will question whether you are about to be told you are sacked. There is high staff turnover and it is always the employees fault and not the management style or lack of support. No flexible working Constant money problems, suppliers not being paid etc.
