Pros
Technology is revolutionary. The method in which graph database technology is changing the way we use data and gather insights and relationships is very exciting. The best part is that we are in the very early innings in this space and Neo4j is already the market leader. The type of enterprise attention that this technology receives day in and day out is stupendous. The focus on the cloud transformation is positioning the company for future success and it is a very exciting project to be a part of. And being on the ground floor of this journey makes this a every dynamic and exciting environment to be a part of. Really thoughtful and intelligent co-workers who live by the culture code. For driven individuals who want to make things happen, there is plenty of opportunity. Hard work is well respected.
Cons
With any company going through a transformational change, there is going to be friction and challenging circumstances which is not everyone’s cup of tea. Neo4j, having been a company for a relatively long time with extremely low attrition also means that there will be individuals who are not ready or are comfortable with the new ways of doing things. This is regrettable but necessary if we are to move forward as a company. There needs to be a concentrated effort to bring more people from different departments together in physical spaces, so that closer and long standing relationships are built. We have grown in considerable size over the past 3 years and half the battle is ensuring that we are working together as one team with a combined purpose. More can be done to nurture this shared mission. There needs to be a quicker acceptance of how closely integrated a database company needs to be with the larger ecosystem at play. This realization needs to permeate across all the technical departments, so that the sales narratives are more robust allowing in repeatable sales wins.
