Pros

Great team culture. As a Junior Developer being part of a small development team, I have a lot of freedom to suggest creative ideas and build on top of already existing ones. I have the freedom to borrow from third-party libraries and develop a cohesive and robust product or solution. The people I work with are very passionate at what they do and their work ethic reflects that. I see myself for many years with this company. I never felt small or felt tiny for asking what would most consider to be stupid questions, so I felt free to ask about anything in order to fully understand the system, how the operations work, and in general how the business functions. I don’t have anything bad to say really. This has been one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. It’s a privilege to work with the team members I’m with now, and my seniors as well. Every day I am always thankful to be working at Neighborhood Loans. I can see myself evolving in my software development career, improving my skill set, and perhaps someday becoming a pillar of support for the company’s future projects. I love the people here. I love the culture. I love the potential!

Cons

Sometimes there isn’t enough uncrustable sandwiches in the fridge.

Pros

I had worked in banking and finance for years before coming to Neighborhood Loans, and I was brought over because they valued my years of experience and expertise and thought I would bring a fresh perspective to their team.

Cons

Definitely a slow getting-started process to ensure I know all the appropriate ins and outs of the business and to make sure I have my license before taking applications. However that's not really a con for the company, I appreciate their attention to detail, as everything we do involves different layers of risk, especially when it comes to people's credit, but I am just a very much hands on type of learner and get distracted fast if I'm not constantly doing something new or learning something.
