Pros
Heath insurance. Serving the country, cool projects. Strong, supportive union (which can be a con). Training was highly valued.
Cons
Bullies, manipulative gaslighting, abusive mentoring, rampant minoritism all wrapped up in a unprofessional, blue collar atmosphere. People with a high school diploma were making more than those with MS stem degrees , with low level workers were treating people like trash for being highly educated. No where else does this low class dynamic exist. A total turn off for any fresh grad or young professional. Those in engineeing management do not care about people, just play pretend to get the low-paying GS-13/14/15 promotions. Not flexible, strict shift hours and no remote work which I saw many families suffer with. Forced to use PTO for being late. No make up time. Corrupt old boys clubs throughout.
