Pros
Laverton facility gives great opportunities for tradies/those looking for an apprenticeship and is away from the politics in head office. There are a lot of genuine people working hard and are generally very helpful – Perfect for any new graduate.
Cons
Having worked here for many years, times have changed. Corporate culture use to be one of team spirit, hard work and comradery working towards a common goal. Now it is full of personal agendas, handballing work and sucking up to management particularly at head office. There are a lot of egos which constantly needs massaging. There is a lack of direction or feedback from management, leadership skills are sorely lacking. Management instead love to delegate tasks while not doing much work themselves undermining staff confidence and commitment to their job. HR hiring people with no experience into senior roles without giving others a chance – This makes other hardworking individuals very disgruntled and unappreciated. Lack of career progression is a big problem – management wonder why people are constantly leaving. Management know there is a problem with workplace culture yet don’t know how to fix it. Use NHP as a stepping stone to a real career as there is no real career progression. There are others who have moved onto much larger organisations. Salary does not compensate with the large amount of work required – there hasn’t been a salary increase in 2 years, yet responsibilities have doubled.
