Pros

Product is strong, and customers are successful. Growing space and interesting technology. Smart coworkers who want the company to be successful.

Cons

Processes that actively discourage work from getting to the finish line. Both procurement and marketing project/ campaign work was opaque and overly engineered. Multiple intake forms required and very easy to get stuck in a black hole if something was missing. Case in point: it took 9 months post-rebrand to get press releases added to the website. Lastly, treating employees with respect is important. It’s hard enough to get laid off, but it’s made harder when no one tells you directly (my manager has also been laid off so no one even called me, they just turned off all my access). There are open positions I’m qualified for but there was no discussion whether I could fill them. They only waited a month before advertising they were looking to fill my exact role again (with a more junior hire, but frankly at a contractor rate they will probably be paying more than what they were paying me). Extremely short sighted. Noting that many of those laid off had been there just under a year, with their first options about to vest, it seemed targeted to reduce this specifically.

Pros

Strong people and culture. Genuinely good colleagues, a collaborative environment, and a place where talented people want to do good work. After many years here, the quality of the people is the thing I'd point to first. Real mission and real product. The work matters — building technology that has a tangible safety impact in the physical world. That gives the work a sense of purpose that's hard to find elsewhere.

Cons

Leadership and organizational clarity could be stronger. As the company has grown, clearer direction, more consistent decision-making, and steadier organizational structure would help people do their best work. Uncertainty. Periods of structural and strategic change can create a sense of instability that's tiring over time, even for people who are otherwise very committed to the company.
