Pros

Server team are great, usually the only positive aspect in hospitality management

Cons

This company is by far the most horrendous company I’ve ever worked for. During my time there, I have witnessed FOH and BOH struggling to keep up with the unrealistic expectations of upper management. Head office couldn’t care less about their staff. The lack of empathy is astonishing. Servers are put on 6 hour contracts whilst being promised they’ll receive full time hours (they only do this to advertise that they aren’t a zero hour policy company). Many servers had communicated to head office that they’re struggling to pay their bills due to this and struggling mentally to keep up with the work on shift as it’s constantly busy and consistently understaffed!! Store managers are constantly having to complete internal investigations on their staff for things as minuscule as arriving to work a few minutes late. Staff are spoken to like dirt by the head office team. Their lack of empathy isn’t even countered by their business savvy as they repeatedly show that they have no concept of what it takes to run a successful store where team members and management feel valued/ empowered and service is staffed correctly to ensure a great customer experience for guests. 7 GM’s in 2 years really does say it all!! In my first few months I saw both the head chef and GM walk out due to severe mental stress and anxiety placed on them by head office. They have issues with staff taking their full 20 minutes breaks (and nothing more even on an 11 hour day) yet have no problem taking staff off the closing shifts and expecting the rest to stay up to an hour after their rota finish time. BOH are usually never allowed the time to take a break when it’s consistently busy and are reprimanded for it if they do. What will it take for head office to see the pattern that they’ve created where management are constantly walking out and struggling to stay longer than a few months!? Anyone looking for hospitality work should AVOID this company at all costs!!! I would rate 0 star if it was an option.

Pros

Teams are amazing, but they have to be.

Cons

It’s difficult to know where to start, but in keeping with the rest of the reviews, every single member of head office is a parasite at best. They are bullies, and what’s worse is they know it and revel in it. Made a mistake when banking? You’ll get a phone call. Chef hasn’t turned up and you’re down on section which is why you didn’t hit sales? You’ll get a phone call. Booked time off and in your absence something entirely insignificant has happened? You’ll get a phone call. To put it into perspective, it’s been 3 years since I left and they’ve had a general manager every 3 months on average. It isn’t random either, they don’t pay into the pension pot during probation. Funny that. It’s like you’ve calculated that into the budget. If you ever see a job here, run.

Pros

The staff I worked with are hard working and lovely people I have the pleasure of working with. They deserve a lot more!!

Cons

Where to begin! Head office was awful! Setting unrealistic targets, no recycling in place, push management out, and no HR!! No perks, the site I worked at we weren’t allowed coffee we Had to supply our own milk, have a limited menu. But other sites can have whatever they want?! Breaks only offered if you work Over 6hours. Rota changing less and a day with no notice and holidays ignored. Never worked anywhere that keeps kitchen open up to the close. Close at 4, someone comes in at 3:50 you Have to seat them. Meaning you stay later, which would be fine!! But managers would get told off if staff stayed later than rotated meaning next time you’re in you’ll be sent home early… Working on the bar alone on a busy weekend was stressful! Constantly asking for help to be ignored. Coffee machine broken, a broken glass wash which means everything had to be hand wash, unable to keep up with health standards and slowing down service. One day in summer the kitchen extraction fan broke. Fairly sure that’s illegal? Finally rumours in HR of Zionism and homophobia has been going round for a while. They don’t care about your mental health, seeing a staff member have a server panic attack and HRs respond was to ‘just work through it’ was appalling!! They clearly have no respect for staff members
