Pros

The shop floor operators are driven and interested, the products are interesting and very relevant.

Cons

At the branch I worked at there was a management Echo chamber, that is to say there was a cliche of senior members of staff who were not present or helpful for the majority of the working week and made decisions with little real data instead relying on each others opinion. They all reported to each other in continuous state of 'in a meeting' but the action lists they were updating obsessively rarely had actions assigned to them and those responsible generally actually got the work done in a timely manner. A sales representative in a high position ignores department heads and promises customers products that have never been previously produced in numbers we have never been able to achieve. He also changes deals with customers as it suits him and does not communicated said alterations. A great deal of stress in the production environment has been caused by this person. The value of the upper echelons in this company was widely and openly questioned.

Pros

You are surrounded by excellent colleagues across all departments, with the exception of Government Property.

Cons

The Government Property team suffers from severe leadership deficiencies and a toxic work culture. The Senior Manager has a well-documented history of high turnover, carrying a reputation from her previous role where team members actively sought transfers. Under this leadership, promotions are actively discouraged through targeted hostility and fabricated performance issues. Because the management team lacks foundational people skills and prior leadership experience, employee retention is critically low. While other departments within the organization offer great opportunities for growth, transferring into or staying within Government Property is highly discouraged.
