Pros
I have worked at Monzo for four years. I have followed this page and it is like TripAdvisor where only the most unhappy or the happiest take part. There are 2k employees &because Monzo doesn't encourage people to write reviews you get a a very extreme view of Monzo that it is either the best or the worst. Like most places it is a mixture. Monzo is a unique place and if you like the things that make it unique you will love it and if you don't you wont. Pros: + It is a fast paced environment with high autonomy where you can see the difference you have made. Things that used to take 6 months in my old job take 6 weeks here. + There is low hierarchy and high collaboration. You can talk to anyone and problems get surfaced quickly. This can be hard for new leaders to Monzo who are used to people just doing what they say because they said it. Having to 'show your working' is big here. + The leadership are more polished now. I loved the raw authenticity of the past but understand that part of why Monzo feels more structured, measured, and focused now is because of this polish. + Informal way of working + London office has rooftop + No mandate to be in the office &flexible working hours + The people are smart, passionate, and make time for fun and creativity. + It is a career incubator. You learn a lot very quickly.
Cons
- Monzo is still pre-profit so salaries &benefits are competitive but not top of the range compared to other big tech companies. A new VP of Reward has started so hopefully this will change. - We're mission focused but we don't talk about it as much as we used to. - Entitlement across the company is high &it isn't called out enough - Feedback culture has died over time &only exists in small pockets - Engineering is treated better than the rest of Monzo - Workload is hard to manage and most people work a lot of hours - No new product features that are interesting
