Pros

The silicone industry has a good long term prospects, but first it must pass the global economic downturn to absorb the industry's overcapacity. MPM probably has the most global footprint in the silicone industry, originating from its heritage companies (GE, OSi, Bayer & Toshiba silicones), but....

Cons

... MPM is not operating globally because, having missed the opportunity to structure itself globally when created from GE-Silicones and its JV companies, the operation of the Regions remains disjointed. MPM is trying to restructure globally but is now having to do so during the global economic crisis (= sales are down), when there is substantial over-capacity in the silicone industry (= margins are down) and while carrying debt from the buy-out that created MPM which exceeds annual sales revenue.

Pros

Friendly colleagues and flexible hours.

Cons

As an international company with employees working in different time zones, it sometimes gets difficult to communicate with colleagues. This may sometimes lead to unusual office hours.

Pros

I'm one week into my journey at Momentive Performance Materials, and I couldn't be happier with how things have started. The onboarding process has been incredibly smooth—well-organized, supportive, and thoughtfully paced. I’ve transitioned from my previous role without feeling overwhelmed or anxious, which speaks volumes about the culture here. The corporate HQ is a fantastic place to work. My desk setup is comfortable and well-equipped, and the environment is clean, modern, and welcoming. Everyone I've met so far has been warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful. There's a real sense of community and collaboration. Bonus points for the cafeteria—it offers good food and a nice space to recharge during the day. Overall, I’m excited about what’s ahead and feel confident I’ve joined a company that values its people and sets them up for success.

Cons

Coming from a hybrid work environment, I initially had some hesitation about being on-site five days a week. However, it’s actually been a refreshing change. Being at corporate HQ has helped me build relationships faster, get face time with colleagues, and feel more connected to the company culture. The workspace is comfortable, the people are welcoming, and the cafeteria is a great perk—it’s made the transition smoother than I expected.
