Pros
Honestly, I can't think of any.
Cons
The office is a mess. They are going to be remodeling. From everything I heard while I was there it's one of those things that will go on for years. It's dark and dreary inside even in the summer. The owner is very strange and made me feel quite uncomfortable. It's a tiny office of fewer than 15 people yet, the owner was rarely seen. He talked to me for some time during my interview but never spoke a word to me once I was hired. He did stick his tongue out at me twice. My supervisor seemed afraid of him and when I wanted to have a meeting with him she flat out told me not to because he might get angry. She also told me that he didn't respect me because I hadn't earned it yet. Hmmmmm... Perhaps because I am a woman? My supervisor was a back stabber. She lied to my face, telling me I was doing great. She acted friendly and somewhat personable until one day I came to work the owner (this was the only time he spoke to me) pulled me into his office and told me "it's not working". No reason, no explanation. My supervisor was out of the office and would not answer her phone. I finally got a text out of her and it contained a fallacious reason for letting me go. I wasn't too upset about it as I was planning to let myself go soon. Everyday I went to work I reminded myself that I didn't have to stay. It was a miserable environment. There is no social aspect. You are expected to creep in to your desk in the morning, quietly do your work and creep out at the end of the day. There are no office meetings, no one uses their calendars, no one truly communicates. There are no office lunches or happy hours. Nothing that makes a work place fun exists there. The other people seem fairly unhappy. If I could rate this company with zero stars I would. I was also being paid less than my male counterpart. He was only hired a month before me and had fewer years experience than I. If you are woman, I would demand to see a pay comparison with the men in the office. Their documented materials state that they pay equally which I did not find to be true. I accepted the position, against my better judgement, at 60% of the prevailing wage for that area. The owner should be ashamed of himself for treating his employees as valueless drones. The documentation for that company is dismally outdated. They have important documentation that hasn't been updated since 2012. Ironically, I was hired to review and update these documents and they let me go for unknown reasons. Smart. The bottom line is that if you are thinking of joining this company, do yourself a favor and keep looking. Unless, you like dark, miserable, ugly offices where no one speaks to you for days...literally, days. In my interview they made it sound like the hours were flexible as long you got your work done on time. The reality is that you arrive on the dot, take exactly an hour lunch and leave on the dot. There's really not much flexibility there. I requested I take a half hour lunch and leave a half hour early since it didn't matter whether I was there that half hour or not. I was denied first being told that WA State law required an hour lunch. That is not true. Also, the location is in the middle of nowhere so an hour lunch is pretty much wasted. There is no good place to go for a walk except around and around the little building.
