Pros

What a great team! Everyone here is customer focused and enthusiastic about doing their best work. Having worked at a few other companies during my career, I'm impressed with the array of benefits Mishimoto offers. To name a few: 401K with matching, company-wide performance bonus, free gym (that you can even use in the middle of the day!), massage chair, flex-schedules, rec-room with pool table and basketball arcade, bring-your-dog-to-work days, "beer and cheese" Tuesday afternoons... But more importantly, people are given the tools, machines, technologies, etc. that they need to be successful at their jobs. All managers at all levels have open doors and encourage feedback and ideas... positive or negative. Good ideas get pursued, and even poor ideas are discussed to see if they have merit before abandoning them. It's astounding to see how far this company has come in such a short time, and to see how much opportunity still lies ahead.

Cons

The company is nimble. We are able to identify problems and make changes quickly. Much more quickly than larger 'red tape' companies. But, with that, comes a lot of change - which can be frustrating to some folks. So, if you are not adaptable to change and innovation, you may struggle here. I read a couple 'negative' reviews on this sight. Some interesting perspectives. And a few outright inaccuracies. For example, someone said the PTO is 5-7 days. That is simply not true. The starting PTO is 10 days, and it increases steadily with tenure. Someone said they have a problem that the owner drives two expensive sports cars. Well, yeah! We are a company of automotive enthusiasts. I think it's cool that the owner is into it. I'd be a little worried if the owner of a successful enthusiast-driven automotive company was pulling into work in a Tercel (no offence intended to Tercel drivers!) Someone made the comment that we hire someone because they interview well or promote them because they have an MBA. All else being equal, that is correct. People who are able to articulate their thoughts, are engaging, and who speak intelligibly are going to have a better chance of getting hired. And people who take the effort to learn and to further their education are more likely to get promoted. I would be very wary of a company who hired people who don't interview well or promoted people who don't care about improvement.... Someone said there is no work-life balance. I've been at companies where a 50-60 hour work week is 'expected'. Not the case here. We work hard and we work efficient - which is how we accomplish so much during a standard 8-hour day.
