Pros

-Learn about the cycling industry and technologies -Great co-workers -Industry Discounts -Conversing with the public -Turning strangers into friends -Good introductory or college summer job -Paid $0.10 for every mile you ride -If you race and get a podium Mikesbikes covers your race entry cost -If you have a passion for bikes

Cons

-No on job training, you are trained when you make a mistake for that incident (and you will) -No scheduled lunch or 10 minute breaks. -Work until your tired and then keep working -Accounting information system is convoluted with no guidance and is nonsensical -Full time and no benefits -Meager wage in the bay area -Feeling unappreciative with store managers -Like a cog in a machine -Pressure to sell a customer the most expensive product even though the less expensive product will satiate their needs. -Scheduled to lead company group rides without asking, but you get $25 for 2 hours of pedaling -No water fountain, only a water conservative faucet. 2 minutes to fill up a bottle = less commission -You might lose your passion for cycling -Individual stores compete against one another

Pros

Good list of brands to get EP deals on. Benefits are actually competitive for the bike industry.

Cons

Consistently hire for roles without posting the job internally, After being bought by PON the company has adopted many practices to stifle employees and limit growth to maximize profits at all costs. It feels like it’s being eaten from the inside out and will soon be a shell of what it once was.
