My first online teaching company, and so far I have nothing unpleasant to say about them. - Online English Teacher Micro Language Employee Review

Pros

They took me through the entire process and had all the patience in the world with me. I am glad they were the first company to hire me as an online teacher. Always there to help with anything basically. Since starting late Jan 2019 my bookings have been steady. Considering they are still on holidays, I don't mind the booking being a bit slower until I get the hang of all of this.

Cons

Nothing unpleasant to say about this company.

Pros

- (Structured) Flexibility - Good pay rate -Great students -Mostly helpful co-workers -Room for growth

Cons

-Fluctuating contracts, high penalties and secrecy regarding differing payscales (under penalty of termination). Penalties seem to be assigned based on the whim of admin rather than the severity of the infraction. -Lack of communication from leadership regarding ongoing policy changes, HR problems and employee dissatisfaction. ( WHEN there are problems with payments -- you'll likely have to chase down HR and send multiple messages before it is resolved. Teachers ARE paid -- but it's not unusual that payments are several days (or in a few cases) several months late.) -Positive reinforcement of dishonest and sycophantic behavior -Fluctuating classes due to over hiring and growth goals that don't match the current demand for classes -Little room for instructor growth or secondary positions. The company sees growth as something that comes from hiring from outside rather than growing from within -Allotted classes (group classes, 1 on 3 classes, demo classes) are assigned by admin based on the "look" of the instructor rather than teaching/ English language talent. ( So, if you're blond haired, blue-eyed and younger -- or, just male, welcome!) -Teaching materials are poorly edited and too short. You'll need to have extra materials in order to teach a full class.
