They don’t mess around here - Medical Coder Michigan Billing Service Employee Review

Pros

They provide training and continuing education units for coders and billers. It was easy to get access to insurance websites, as they have an administrative assistant on staff for that.

Cons

You can’t talk to coworkers during work hours. Don’t spend too much time getting water or coffee, they’ll call you out. If you walk to slowly to and from your car on lunch, they’ll call you out. They have cameras everywhere and watch everything that happens. When I was there, we had to document what we did every day and add it to a giant log sheet, I assume so they can tell you other ways that you are unimpressive to them. I saw them approve time off for someone months in advance, and then they changed the time off policy, and told the girl that her vacation didn’t meet the current policies, so it was no longer approved.

Pros

When you finally leave this abusive relationship, you'll have something to be proud of!!!!

Cons

The "managers" are simply family members of the owners. If you weren't married or bred in, you can forget advancement opportunities here. They are racially and politically insensitive. They often mock the clients and even the doctors who pay for their services. It's a toxic culture and they don't care about fixing it. Pay is below average. You will never be able to take time off. They will ask you to work additional hours without overtime pay (illegal). RUN!!

Pros

The only pro I can think of was that the office was clean. There was close parking to the entrance of the building.

Cons

The business was a mess. They were constantly hiring and firing people. Management did not manage and pretended to know what they were doing. Their training technique was a sink or swim, trial and error type (they hired people with zero experience.)
