Pros

Unlike most PR firms, the VPs and above are knowledgeable and actually care about the junior staff. Work from home once a week, pleasant HR.

Cons

The account management and lower positions try to micro manage and aren't welcoming at all. Merritt likes to pride itself on being a great place to work by giving you a day to work from home, but there's no 401K match and the office is small and close quarters. They lack several things that make professionals want to go to larger firms, including lack of onboarding, forced to be polite all the time, employees talking behind your back and excluding you, too much concern placed on a small media hits instead of going after big opportunities. There are too many meetings and not enough time to do actual work (if there is any work, sometimes there's nothing to do and you get yelled at for not being billable). They promise you a lot in the beginning that never comes to fruitition and don't take the effort to get to know you.

Pros

The team environment is amazing and everyone has each others backs! It's a great place to learn and grow as a PR pro.

Cons

Workload can be overwhelming, but that's normal in agency life.
