Pros
The best aspects of Meritage are a paycheck, the staff level employees, and divisional management that are still there; that's about it. At one time there was almost an entrepreneurial spirit at MTH-that is gone now. Instead it has been replaced by trying to follow in the footsteps of other failing builders, that senior leaders have worked for in the past. The homes are actually unique and some have some very interesting architectural features. The construction quality is fairly high (as high as it can be for a national builder constantly looking to cut costs (cut some corners), and reduce standard features.
Cons
No corporate communication to divisions, and terrible IT reporting systems-worse yet they base significant decisions on data from a reporting system that has serious flaws and shortcomings (and senior leaders know this, but it's simply easier to ignore) . If you need a paycheck-work there, but watch your back. You just have to work like you're on an episode of survivor-make sure you make the right alliances, so you can be kept in the game and not voted off! There is a complete lack of understanding for regional needs and desires of home buyers. They need to understand that not every buyer is the same as they are in Phoenix or TX.
