Decent part-time work, full-time hard to come by unless you want to be a manager. - Wallcoverings Team Member Menards Employee Review

Pros

Flexible scheduling as a part-time employee. The ability to take "classes" on your own time to train for your job and earn raises that way. Profit sharing is nice. Menards sends employees gifts for all kinds of holidays - usually they are things like a coffee mug with the menards logo or a t-shirt you can wear to work but its nice that the company thinks of you. Work days are shorter in winter as the store closes earlier. Extra pay for working Sundays.

Cons

The base pay isn't great. The only way to advance is to become a manager with long hours and rotating shifts. Often times you will have to be willing to relocate just to advance your career. Full-time spots are hard to come by and usually are already filled by career-Menards employees so starting out part-time your only option for advancing is usually to become an assistant department manager

Pros

A few of the people are nice to work with.

Cons

A store manager who talks down to employees like they're children (and apparently gets promoted for it). A store manager who acts like employees are idiots for calling him to ask questions. Raises are pathetic. Understaffed because the store manager won't allow enough labor hours to do the job, particularly on Sundays when there's a lot of freight.
