Pros

quality training and motivation for further education and advancement. Managers and hospital as a whole really push extra education and skills training so nurses can maintain good skills

Cons

House Supervisor-yes house supervisor, was the one pushing nursing ratios to accommodate patients. Hard to fight against the nurse supervisor when you're drowning in patients. Terrible management styles on some of the nursing units. Sadly, most of the units are racially segregated. I worked on 5th floor as a Caucasian with 90% of the nurses being Filipino. Most of them spoke their native language unless around a patient (even when asked a question in English). A new nurse or any race other than Filipino have the most difficult time learning unit routines and going to the managers with issues due to their race. Very sad. One nursing coordinator is a caucasian woman and that was the only person that listened to the needs of the nurses that weren't Filipino.
