      Memorial Hermann follows a policy of opening a leadership position internally for 3 days. They state you must meet requirements to advance

      They do not announce the leadership position is available. They have a favorite individual in mind, will post the position and tell that one person that the position is available to apply. While others work hard to meet eligibility requirements of five clinical years, BSN, certification to help them qualify for a leadership position; MHHS will promote white males with 2 years clinical nursing experience versus POC. They don’t include a POC’s PCT/ PCA experience but will allow that experience for their favorite people to help them get a promotion.

      Pros

      Quality care. Patient focused. Room for growth depending on skill but sometimes based on who you know which is a con. Lots of great providers who really care.

      Cons

      A lot of politics and favortism. People get promoted in leadership that don't deserve it which makes for a miserable experience for those working with them . Some senior leaders are disrespectful, overly demanding, disregard others time and effort, manipulative, aggressive, belittling, don't understand the workload of others, inflict punishment based on their feelings or because they want to, do things for their own benefit and are dishonest.
