Pros

Paycheck keeps me from starving

Cons

Pretty much everything else. "Team leads" have absolutely no idea what they're doing, are unavailable and are typically found in a back office or in the backroom talking rather than helping in their respective departments or defusing situations with customers that require managerial input. Store is union so none of the bad workers will ever be fired. I've literally seen coworkers get in swearing, screaming matches with each other, management, and customers with zero consequences. Coworkers regularly tell management that they aren't going to do aspects of their job because they don't want to, with zero consequences. If you have a good work ethic this will be pushed off onto you. There is no reward for hard or competent work here unless you are friends with or related to management. Food items that are spoiled or been recalled stay on the floor for purchase because employees don't care and again, management is absent. Working here is the definition of "the blind leading the blind". We are always understaffed, out of supplies, frazzled, and in chaos. If it wasn't for Covid-19 (we don't enforce the mask mandate for that either, despite being in michigan) I would have already left and found a new job. Working here is a nightmare.

Pros

Great company and benefits. The Meijer Credit Union is amazing and being able to work remote is a blessing.

Cons

Not much recognition for individual contribution. Recognition systems on the whole are great though especially for the company's size

Pros

Direct coworkers were great to work with. I also enjoyed being left to do my work and not babysat by management.

Cons

Management doesn't know what they are doing. Resets and floor plans were regularly not done properly. The store I worked at has a skeleton crew so I never got help (but was expected to stop everything I'm going to go help other departments/areas). Also meaning good luck to any customers needing help, especially when I was the only person working my area of the store, so when I wasn't there, no one was. Management also regularly disappeared into the offices or were on vacation. Also was terminated for reasons outside my control even though I was told they look at the reasons for attendance incidents before termination. Never got to get the FMLA or accommodation to my doctors before being terminated two days after I requested them. Didn't bother asking for a raise either. I did multiple times and got nothing.
