Pros
The family places very high demands on sales force, internal product divisions and operations. Their ruthless business savy breeds best in class growth. Overall very capable sales force, buying power (Medline actually makes little of what they brand) and strong logistics group make for a solid platform to run a piece of business. CEO is very intelligent, demanding, level-headed and people he is connected with usually know where they stand. LOTS of talented and smart people - good people that put up with a lot stress and loss of personal life to make an above average wage.
Cons
Just plain heartless at times. Significant and daily changes in direction and mood swings in SW corner office. Sales oriented leadership with reps having a direct line to the owners is not always fair and sometimes makes no business sense. Senior leadership does not always recognize talent and utilize the right people for the right job. Sum it up = put up with a lot of BS and hopefully retire early.
