Pros

-Great work life balance -Had some STELLAR managers who took the time to mentor / invest in their employees -For a 'state government' employer in an area with a relatively low-cost of living, MEDC had a great pay scale and solid benefits. -Fast promotions (if you're a hard worker and prove yourself to management) -As mentioned under 'Cons,' the culture could definitely improve... that said, there are a lot of dedicated people who really care about the organization, it's mission, and their colleagues

Cons

-Power struggles between the different vice presidents and senior managers sometimes made for a difficult work environment... culture could definitely be improved

Pros

Work-life balance was valued and exceptional. The work and mission was meaningful and you worked with really bright and intelligent peers who really care about the mission of the organization. This factor alone made the culture of the organization unique and great. The job itself was also great in that you are put in positions where you had to rise up to the challenge: representing the state and Governor's office, learning to work with various types of local governments, and exposure to working directly with top companies and C-suites. The work experience itself was good for this reason. Good benefits.

Cons

Limited career growth in terms of pay and moving up the ladder. Even though the work is not supposed to be political, the organization can be political. Like most state agencies, top leadership is replaced with new administration so you should be prepared for changes every 4-8 years.
