Medallia Response
10yAs someone who liked high school but never wanted to repeat it, your analogy hurt! I'm sorry you've experienced Medallia's culture as sophomoric. We do share a lot of camaraderie, but it’s not why people get promoted. I do believe that camaraderie and meritocracy can peacefully exist -- there's no tradeoff.
As for budget cuts, we've never actually had them. Every year we re-evaluate our priorities and choose to invest more in some areas, less in others, but that’s just budgeting - not budget cutting. As our CFO likes to say, we have limitless funds to invest, but not a dollar to waste. We also never, ever solicit Glassdoor feedback from certain employees and not others. I'd personally prefer it if people just brought up their issues - positive and negative -- internally at fireside chats, in 1:1s with managers, or through our internal surveys. That said, I know that not everyone is comfortable doing so.
Lastly, I couldn't agree more that everyone needs to be held accountable for clear outcomes and success metrics. If you don't have clarity about what success in your role looks like, and you can't resolve it with your manager, please reach out to your department head, People and Culture, or me. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. If you'd like to talk more, please e-mail me or stop by my office.
