Pros

Good work culture and great teams, but it primarily depends on the project/client you work for

Cons

# Salaries are very less compared to employees who work in similar technologies/roles at other companies. Never heard of a bonus from this company. Annual raises are only 1 to 2%, if at all # Its better not to mention the benefits; life insurance is reduced to half this year, carryover of leaves reduced to half, high premiums/deductibles for health insurance policy, and reasonable 401(k) benefits # No chance of skill improvement, no training(s), nor advancement in career # The company doesn't even spend a dollar on any employee unless it is beneficial to them. Only the higher ups will make money. No recognition for hard work, no reward for best achievers, no promotions, except an appreciation certificate (that too for one person from each project) # Very poor maternity benefits and no paternity; employees have to take PTO when sick, no sick leave; will have to take PTO for 1 or 2 hr appointments due to lack of Work from Home, else take 2 hr metro or drive to work after appointment # I was told that when the client location is closed for presidential inauguration, employees were made to charge that day to their personal holiday. Employees were very much worried about their salary/holidays, when ever government speaks about federal shutdown # Never got the feeling that the company cares for you; employees are just treated like money generating machines # A company whose primary business is IT services will treat their employees fairly, but MAXIMUS primary business is not IT, and doesn't know what its employees need

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
