Pros

Really none. The company is terrible.

Cons

This is by far the worse company I have ever worked for. Maximus assumed the SMB Govt contract by purchasing a small company while they were taking over the contract. Maximus boasts to have 18k employees, but fail to mention that they have a large amount of turnover and employ mostly TIER I and low level help desk agents and techs. They don't have a large amount of TIER III Engineers. The treat employees on contract horribly. They have contracted out the HR department, which has no phone number to call to. Only an email with a 2 day reply timeframe. Health insurance is a joke, and they force employees to provide birth certificates of all family members, after SSNs have been provided as well. Pay is in the mid range, when outside of the DC beltway. Onboarding was terrible. It took their outsourced IT department 2 weeks to get logins to the multiple sites, to complete required docs for the hiring process, which is due 4 weeks once hired. This is after the start date, not before. Be warned...Maximus is a company to steer clear of.

Pros

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
