Pros
There are some incredibly talented and intelligent employees here that want the best for their clients and coworkers, but they are overworked and their teams are understaffed.
Cons
Despite boasting being ranked a best place to work, Matter is a mediocre place to work at best. The environment was extremely cliquey, senior leadership only has their best interest in mind, and the company as a whole is unorganized. Leadership plays favorites and consistently rewards the same employees and accounts (with a strong favoritism to PR), while other teams and employees with huge accomplishments are not acknowledged. Matter adds team members to new accounts, promises promotions, and tells employees they are safe and that layoffs are strictly performance based, just to lay them off not even a month later with no explanation. Being required to be in the office 4 days a week is not truly the hybrid environment Matter advertises, especially when the leadership team requiring this is almost never in the office. There were days when I would be the only person in the office besides the office manager. What is the point of going into the office to collaborate and be part of an “exceptional company culture” if I am the only person there? As for benefits, a 401k is not competitive if you cannot start contributing until you have been at the company for over a year. Then again, I was hardly making enough money to cover my living expenses that I probably would not have had anything to contribute to a 401k. Since the most recent round of layoffs, several key senior employees across all branches of the company have willingly left the company. Do not waste your time here and instead pursue an opportunity at a different agency.
