Pros

I don’t usually post about work, but I feel like this deserves a shoutout. Working at Matrix Computer Consulting has been an incredible experience. As part of the management team, I see firsthand how much effort goes into creating and maintaining a family-style work environment—and it truly shows. From the little things, like always having food and drinks available (and not just snacks, but actual breakfast and lunch options!), to the bigger things, like weekly working lunches provided by the company and fun happy hours with activities, food, and drinks—it all adds up to a workplace that genuinely cares about its employees. It’s refreshing to be part of a company that values its people, listens to their needs, and creates an environment where we feel supported and appreciated. Grateful to be here!

Cons

That said, like any job, it’s not without its challenges. Working in this industry means handling high-pressure situations—priorities can shift quickly, especially when client emergencies arise, and that can make for some stressful moments. When a client is unhappy, it trickles down, and we all feel it. But at the end of the day, it’s rewarding to be part of a team that pulls together to solve problems and keep things running smoothly.

Pros

Lots of exposure and experience

Cons

Almost no one stays there for a year. The turnover is very high and due to this, lots of added pressure on new employees with very little onboarding, training or documentation of work for commonly requested tasks. It's often a "figure it out" mentality. Clients are often surprised or upset at the amount of new faces because it reduces their quality of service.

Pros

- Exposure to many technolgies - Great place to learn (mostly by seat of your pants) - Monthly company spansored happy hours

Cons

- Extrodinarily high turn over rate. I would hazard to guess their average retention rate for a L1 and L2 techs is less than 14 months - Lack of experienced / trained staff - Inadequate pay for the high pressure - The co-owner's child-like behavior creates challenges in the working relationship
