Pros
- Flex Time
Either use your overtime or compensate it later with staying longer at the office.
Cons
- Low payment and no real chance of raise
5 different managers, 4 of which have no idea who you are or what you are doing will decide whether you can get a raise or not. A colleague who left after working there for more than 10 years got only 10.000 Yen raise in salary over that period of time. I repeat, after 10 years your salary will increase by a maximum of 10.000 Yen.
The monthly payment will be around 185.000-200.000 Yen after deduction. If you will be told something like 270.000 Yen per month, make sure to confirm what the actual salary after tax will be.
- Unprofessional
Unskilled people without proper language skills or technical knowledge will provide translation, proofreading, layout etc. Cases like proofreading owners manual in Arabic is common, although you have no clue about this language.
- Meetings
Every week a 30 min meeting was held were everybody had to tell what they are currently doing and if they have any problems going on. We were indirectly forced to find problems to talk about at these meetings because there HAVE to be problems, right? If you refuse to find topics about problems, it will have a negative impact on your evaluation (which correlates with your bonus payment).
- Overtime
If you do overtime for free, nobody will say anything. Lots of people do not clock their time. But if you input your overtime hours, your supervisor will confront you why you are not doing your job properly.
- Training
No proper training. Nobody really knows how to use the software properly.
- Speeches
Every week somebody has to make a speech in front of your unit about a topic nobody really cares about.
