Pros

- Fortune 500 - Large organization

Cons

The MMC companies fundamentally do not care about their people. The office politics are rampant and it's a hostile work environment. What really reveals the character of a company though is how they act in troubling times, like this COVID-19 situation. MMC cunningly announced that they will not let go of anyone during this crisis (attracting all the positive press) and then a few days later, let go of ALL its interns globally with 0 compensation, knowing that it would go unnoticed. This is DESPICABLE. This is a $15B revenue organization. And you're telling me that they were so tight on money that they couldn't keep 100 interns for the summer? Students depend on internships financially. At a time when you're supposed to be helping each other, MMC left interns to fend for themselves. Very few organizations of this size behave this way. But it is revealing into the corporate culture. Just reaffirmed my own negative experiences at the firm. My advice: You may be tempted to come here even though it's a well-known Fortune 500. DON'T. This company doesn't really care about its people or honoring its commitments - current employees and prospective employees alike. Truly ridiculous behavior.

Marsh Risk Response

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your candid feedback. The global COVID-19 pandemic has been catastrophic in so many ways with no modern parallels. The health and well-being of our 75,000+ colleagues, their families, our communities and clients are the top priority for our organization during these challenging times. The decision to cancel our summer internship program this year was one of the most difficult we have had to make. A cornerstone of our summer internship programs is to ensure that our colleagues have a meaningful work experience during their time at Marsh and McLennan. In light of the impact of COVID-19 on our work environment, we had to make the painful decision that we couldn’t provide that experience and so had to cancel the program. In its place, we are developing a virtual summer learning experience that will provide opportunities for students to network, learn more about our business and grow professionally. We encourage you to reach out to our Head of our University Relations to learn more about this program or to the Chief HR Officer of Marsh to discuss your concerns.
