Pros

It was a unique opportunity to learn a lot because of the small size - you could touch on a lot of different projects. There were a lot of great people there. It's an ok stepping stone, but get ready to move on after a couple years.

Cons

-One issue was job insecurity. At first it was possible to believe that layoffs/firing were just unfortunate; colleges having to shrink a bit/people not being the right match (and maybe that accounts for some of it). But the overall turnover (lay offs, firing, and a lot of people voluntarily leaving) was very high. Layoffs are seen there as a way of doing business, rather than as a last resort (that should happen after giving people honest feedback first - that also didn't seem to happen). This was demoralizing and the way it was done didn't totally feel in line with the Christian values that are hyped up during the interview process - and also impractical, because institutional/program knowledge was constantly leaving way too quickly. A lot of relative newbies training newbies, which is hard on both sides. -I think this school would benefit 1000% by just enrolling everyone in management in leadership courses. There were too many instances of unprofessional communication/behavior/etc.; some people just really needed a guideline of how to appropriately lead, especially if their background isn't originally in management. -Pay was low, but to be fair that is kinda normal for nonprofits.
