Great place to work at! - Library Assistant Manhattan Public Library Employee Review

I really enjoyed the management and staff. Everyone was nice and great to work with. The work is pretty easy. My job was mainly to straighten up shelves, water plants, dust, and do tasks the reference librarians wanted me to do or assist with. Hours worked with my schooling, which was nice. Very enjoyable experience.

Sometimes the library guests would try to talk to me or ask me for advice. Not a big deal. I'd just answer what I was allowed to (very basic things) and send them to the reference librarians for the more detailed questions. No real downsides. If I was back in college, needing part-time, evening hour work, I'd do this again in a heartbeat.

This is a place that really loves hiring college students, the library has flexible hours and the circulation desk has a variety of tasks to do. Once you get desk trained, it becomes less repetitive.

The high turnover rate in general can be frustrating, because so many people move or get full time jobs, and then there are a lot of people who aren't entirely sure what they're doing.
