Dishonest, incompetent and outright rude managers - Retail Assistant MUJI Employee Review

Pros

1) You'll be working for a fairly renowned Japanese company that produces supposedly high-quality, expensive goods ranging from garments to food.

Cons

1) Very dishonest senior managers who enjoy pushing the blame to one another (in the higher circle). As a temporary retail assistant, I was originally told I would be attached to an unopened outlet to prepare it for its grand opening, but on my fifth day of work, I was told to report to another outlet to help with packing duties, and upon arrival, realised that I had been assigned there permanently. Upon investigation, they were aware that I would be making a permanent transfer, but the manager blatantly lied that I was being moved temporarily. NOTE: according to the HR department, this is completely normal, and they have the power to reassign you wherever and whenever they so desire. 2) Horrible lack of communication. Managers seem to be slow to the uptake. Upon arriving at the new location, the manager did not understand (even upon my repeated explanations) that it was not my first day with the company at all. Manager knew which outlet I was from previously, but knew next to nothing else about the transfer. 3) Very tedious work, although it might be expected for those working in the position of 'retail assistant'. Expect to be moving heavy boxes and climbing ladders to wipe shelves. Pay is, however, somewhat low for retail sector. 4) Incompetent and rude managers who will print out setups for you and order you to display the goods accordingly, but then will not follow the setups and proceed to rearrange everything into a big mess, before forcing you to arrange the goods to their whims (for three to four hours). Expect to be handed extra work randomly, and even that extra work will be prone to random changes. RUDE: Manager actually pulled my bag over and rummaged through it WITHOUT PERMISSION while I was standing in front of her looking for my wallet - when demanded to know what she was doing, smiled and said it was a routine check. This is not company policy. I have worked with MANY managers in the company, and it was my first time experiencing such nonsense. There was no apology or other explanation given.
