Pros
Great pay and solid benefits. Health insurance coverage is great but 401k plans leaves much to be desired. Coordinators for field personnel are mostly great to work with and very fair. This company is also very sensitive and understanding of personal/ family issues which is very nice. They understand things happen occasionally that may require your immediate attention at home and will work diligently to have another employee relieve you. As far as I can tell they offer very fair pay, if not a bit higher than the competition in many cases.
Cons
The biggest issue is schedules- or a lack thereof. You will be worked and worked and worked when business is steady. Especially on the MWD side, they offer no rotations or any type of schedule leading to people being burned out. You meet many guys who have had the life worked out of them but stick around because it pays well. This doesn't foster a great work environment. You can ask for relief but if things are busy, good luck! Some guys definitely don't mind this schedule but overall I believe some sort of schedules would lead to a much better workforce with less turnover. It's by far the #1 complaint in the field. Another issue is no clear path to advancement. If you're in the field, plan on always being in the field. Sure, you will advance in the field to different field levels but there is no path to any management or office jobs. This may be an issue for some but frankly it shouldn't be surprising because this is, after all, a field services company. They employ more field hands than any other position because that is the base of their business. Anyone with a goal of getting field experience and moving into a different role in this company- steer clear!
